Got the new engine all buttoned up this weekend:
Now I just have to pull the old drivetrain, finish installing the wiring, and bolt the new drivetrain in.

Would it help if I told you I also changed the front motor mount, sway bar bushings, and rotated tires on the van while I was doing things?

This’ll be the nicest part of your $100 beater for sure. Do you plan on cleaning up the engine bay before you put this lovely motor in?
![]() 03/19/2018 at 07:57 |

Hhahaha yes!
![]() 03/19/2018 at 07:59 |

Lolz. Uhm no
I’m useless and weak

Litre? What is the history on this British Engine?
![]() 03/19/2018 at 09:12 |

I really hope you have paint plans for the car that are as lively as the engine
![]() 03/19/2018 at 09:22 |

it’s Japanese! but Chrysler Loves to use litre for some reason..
![]() 03/19/2018 at 09:27 |

Well done. It’s impressive.

I love how you work on cars that most other enthusiasts would’ve written off as junk. Keep up the good work dude

That’s the fun, there’s plenty of them in good shape to buy cheap, parts are cheap, and they take very well to basic mods.

Thanks!
![]() 03/19/2018 at 10:07 |

It’s going a custom dark teal/green metallic with a graffiti/mural on the hood/driver’s fender.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 10:10 |

It’s Japanese.
It’s a Mitsubishi 6G72 SOHC 12v.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 10:12 |

It’s getting repainted and some other minor things fixed as well.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 10:16 |

I plan on giving it a quick respray before installing the new driveline.
Probably just a quick shot of satin black, unless I feel ambitious and paint it the same dk teal/green the car will be.
It’s just a daily, so I don’t want to spend too much time on it.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 10:25 |

Neat. Any luck finding a graffiti artist?

My cousins and daughters are drawing some stuff up right now. If they come up with something cool, I’m going to let them have some fun.

*looks at pictures of engine*
Yeah, you obviously don’t want to spend too much time prettying stuff up.

Cool!

I noticed the oil cap was installed upside down.
Clearly this means you’re gonna have to rebuild it again or do an SBC swap.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 11:26 |
|
that’s great! in 30 years it’ll be the last one on earth!!! then you can reap those sweet rewards!
![]() 03/19/2018 at 12:13 |
|
I’ll be happy if it’s still on the road in 30yrs.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 12:13 |
|
That’s the hard to find 710 cap, they’re extremely rare these days.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 12:14 |

Hey, a quick repaint while it’s apart is nothing.............
![]() 03/19/2018 at 12:44 |
|
I bet it raises the value of the vehicle by at least 50%
![]() 03/19/2018 at 12:49 |
|
It’s very possible ;)
![]() 03/19/2018 at 13:02 |

I mean, that is your mission if you choose to except.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 13:18 |
|
That’s all I was suggesting for the engine bay haha.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 15:26 |
|
You can probably pick up women with it too!
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:03 |
|
Yep, I’ll pick 3 little women up daily. 4 if we pick the wife up too.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:15 |

We’ll see. Depends on the time frame really. If I get the old driveline out and have a couple days before the new goes in, I will spray it. If I get it out and start putting it back together again, it will likely stay original color.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:17 |

Honestly, mission is make a fun daily for a few years.
If a few turns into a few decades, I won’t complain.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:18 |
|
It’d just be hilarious to pop the hood and have a satin black bay with that beautifully painted motor in it and not touch the outside.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:20 |
|
I will likely be like that for a month or so while I do body work and get it ready for paint.
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:23 |
|
Isn’t that a lot of work to do for a just daily driver? haha
![]() 03/19/2018 at 16:46 |
|
Far less than my old daily: https://oppositelock.kinja.com/thought-id-post-up-my-old-acclaim-build-for-everyone-1823032640
I enjoy wrenching and doing body work/painting, so it’s soothing to me and keeps me occupied. ;)
![]() 03/19/2018 at 22:31 |

Soooo teal. The valve cover lies. Why u no mitsu?
![]() 03/20/2018 at 08:21 |
|
I hate paint and body work. That’s probably what leads me to rat rods.
![]() 03/20/2018 at 11:57 |

What about the mistress?
![]() 03/20/2018 at 12:03 |
|
Between a wife, kids, and cars who has time for a mistress?
![]() 03/29/2018 at 12:39 |

It’s Seafoam ;)
And it is Mitsu, in Chrysler form.
